we would return to many of the
summer afternoons
in the grove of acacia behind Tunghai
where we were mesmerized
by the
deafening silence created by innumerable buzzing cicada.Whenever there is a chilling wind howling

poignancy
and
melancholy evoked
when we walked on the little path
winding through the campus
on our
way back from the library to our dorm in the late winter evening.
